Potomac
Named for the nearby Potomac River, the city of Potomac, MD started out as a small farming community in the early 1700s and didn’t change until the 1950s when rapid sub-urbanization occurred in many of the communities surrounding Washington, D.C.
Today, Potomac is one of the most affluent communities in the country, home to nearly 50,000 residents.
Potomac has a wide range of activities to offer its residents. Everything from hiking and shopping to dining out and visiting historic sites will be at your fingertips if you are living here. Of these attractions are The Billy Goat Trail that offers panoramic views of tree filled valleys and includes three shorter hikes varying in difficulty, The Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center which is filled with history exhibits, short films and other displays, and the public Falls Road Golf Course.
Potomac has one of the highest median incomes in the country when compared with other towns its size or larger. The homes in Potomac are some of the most spacious properties in the DC metro area. This is a neighborhood of grand, traditional-style houses on large lots along curving, tree-lined streets.
